Pagewood Farm Hand Dyed Yarns

Pagewood Farm is a small indpendent dyer located in Southern California run by Robin and her husband Chuck. Robin does the dyeing and Chuck handles the business end. Robin studied under master spinners and dyers and gradually developed a color sense and technique completely unique in the industry. Her hand dyed colorways rarely stripe, flash or pool. Pagewood Farm offers a large array of sock yarns using such fibers as superwash merino, bamboo, blue-face leicester, and cashmere, as well as lace weight yarns and most recently a superwash worsted weight blue-face leicester perfect for sweaters. The sock yarns from Pagewood Farm are always generous on yardage, so you'll have enough to make a pair of socks from most patterns. We currently offer several of her sock yarns and will be adding to the selection in the near future. Due to their love of the state of Alaska, all of their yarns are named after cities or places of interest in Alaska.

Pagewood Farm Alyeska Cashmere Sock Yarn

Alyeska is the most sought-after of Pagewood Farm's yarns. An intimate blend of merino, cashmere and nylon, this yarn is amazing to touch yet durable enough for socks. In between fingering and sport weight, Alyeska works well on a size US 3 knitting needle. Knit some socks with Alyeska and cuddle your feet in comfort! Or, how about a baby sweater? We'll be posting an adorable baby bolero using this yarn on the website soon.

The name "Alaska" is most likely derived from the Aleut Alyeska, meaning "great land."

Pagewood Farm Denali Merino Sock Yarn

Denali is Pagewood Farm's classic sock yarn. It is a classic blend of superwash merino and nylon, lending a nice soft hand with the durable strength of nylon. Very generous yardage and beautiful colors means endless sock enjoyment! Denali is a standard sock/fingering weight, requiring a size US 2 needle for most knitters. 1 skein is plenty for a pair of socks.

Denali, also known as Mt. McKinley, is the highest mountain in North America and dominates the center of Alaska. Named by the local Tanaina people, Denali means "the great one."

Pagewood Farm Yukon Bamboo Sock Yarn

Yukon showcases the innovative bamboo fiber, which is proving to be an excellent fiber for socks and has made Yukon the most popular sock yarn from Pagewood Farm. Yukon is a blend of superwash merino, bamboo and nylon, combining the elasticity of wool, the strength of nylon and the soft sheen and anti-bacterial qualities of bamboo. Interestingly, the bamboo fiber tends to mute down some of the Pagewood's colorways, giving them a breath-taking shimmer. Yukon is a standard sock/fingering weight, requiring a size US 2 needle for most knitters. 1 skein is plenty for a pair of socks.

The Yukon was the territory where, in the late 19th Century, the Klondike Gold Rush opened Alaska to gold hunters.
